Jana C. Brown

Biltmore Who’s Who Selects Jana C. Brown as this week’s Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2012.

Ms. Brown, who holds a BS in Microbiology and English, with a minor in Psychology and an MA in Counseling, both from Stephen F. Austin State University, is a Certified National Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. who has been working in her field since 2002.

Beginning as an intern at a mental health hospital in Tyler, Texas, Ms. Brown spent three years gaining experience in many areas of mental health.  She then went to work for a private practice where she would gain experience in crisis management, acute care, intensive outpatient care, and outpatient office care.  In June of 2006, she formed her private practice, where she resides today.

As owner of her private practice, Ms. Brown oversees all the day to day operations, in addition to seeing anywhere from six to eight patients per day.  She does individual, couples, and family therapy, works with the family court system in multiple counties in Texas and several states outside of Texas, is a court appointed therapist and expert witness, and also has credentials to work as a parenting coordinator.  Ms. Brown also works with many Employee Assistance Programs, does presentations for the EAPs when possible, and does on-site crisis management.  The majority of her court work is pro-bono, with a passion for working with pre-teens through young adults.

“I want to make difference in the lives of people, but especially kids and families,” Ms. Brown said about her career.  “I grew up as a child of divorce with an absent father and was a difficult teenager as a result.  My past gives me a good understanding of many different avenues in life that I hope I can effectively use to facilitate change in peoples lives.”

Having received excellent training in both her education and through hands on experience, Ms. Brown has also been blessed with the ability to attend many quality trainings in her field.  She hopes to continue to present her knowledge to as many people possible as possible on a national level, write a series of books geared toward teens, and become more involved in charitable events and fundraisers.

Ms. Brown is a member of ACA, AFCC, TCA and the  National Association of Professional Women.  She earned a Woman of the Year Award for 2011-12 through the National Association of Professional Women and was also named to the Global Directory of Who’s Who for 2011-12.  When she isn’t busy working, she enjoys going to the beach, listening to music and spending quality time with friends and family.
