David A. Healey

Biltmore Who’s Who Selects David A. Healey as this week’s Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2012.

David A. Healey, Superintendent for Agrex, Inc., has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes David A. Healey’s commitment to excellence in Grain Trading and Handling.

Healey, who holds a trade certificate in construction from Hastings Community College and is licensed to inspect, grade, weigh and fumigate grain, has worked at the Agrex, Inc. grain terminal since 1981.  In charge of facility operations, Healey oversees truck dumping and loading, rail car loading, grain quality, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep.  He also takes care of employee hiring and running the facility’s safety program. 

Crediting a previous vice-president of operations for teaching him about grain handling operations, Healey has been able to prove himself a success in the field.  He also admired and respected his father, an honest and hardworking farmer who started with nothing.

“My father taught me that to truly be proud of what you have or what you accomplish, you have to work for it and earn it,” Healey explained.  “I feel that much of today’s generation does not appreciate what they have, do not want to work, and expect too much to be handed to them.”

Hoping to retire within the next few years and pass along his drive and work ethic to those employees underneath him, Healey will continue to run the facility to the same capacity he always has, with great pride and joy. 

Healey is a member of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) since 1989, where he served as president, secretary/treasurer and director of the local chapter.  He was a director on the International Board for seven years and a member of several international committees. Healey was also a volunteer fireman in his local community for twenty years and served on the local school board for twelve years.  His facility has earned numerous safety awards through GEAPS and was featured in Grain Journal Magazine for their safety record.
